1942-10-19: 21. Osttransport

Departure Date: 19.10.42, Deported: 963, Destination: Riga

With the 21st Osttransport, only Berlin Jews were deported to Riga. Among these were a large number of families with children. 59 children from the Baruch-Auerbachian orphanage in Schönhauser Allee 162 were deported with this transport, including Gerd Rosenthal (No. 251 of the transport list), the brother of the late entertainer Hans Rosenthal [A. Gottwaldt, D. Schulle, The “Jewish Deportations” from the German Reich 1941-1945, Wiesbaden 2005, 258]. There are 999 names in the transport list, 36 of which were deleted. It can therefore be assumed that 963 people were deported.
